Should we purchase a toddler bed or a twin sized bed?
My daughter just turned 2 and we were curious as to whether we should invest in a toddler bed or a twin sized bed? She is very tall for her age. Thanks in advance for your help.
We have an infant currently sleeping in the bassinet and need to move him to the crib.
go for the twin size…not only will she be getting a "big girl bed," she'll also be able to use that bed for longer, and you won't have to shell out more money when she gets too big for the toddler bed…just mke sure to get a high quality twin bed that can stand up to the years of wear and will also hold up to a couple of years worth of jumping on the bed, because that's really fun, especially for a youngster!

How difficult is it to move your child from a crib to a toddler bed?

I would skip the toddler bed and go straight for the twin. That's exactly what I did do, actually.

Either one, its totally up to you. If your daughter is pretty tall though then i'd maybe go for the bigger bed, she'll be in it longer so its a better purchase for your money.

you could purchase a twin size bed, and just get a bed frame that sits low to the ground that way its easier for her to get in and out. plus if she falls out it wont be that far of a drop.
plus by going ahead and getting the twin size she will be able to get more use out of it- so you would be saving some money! always a good thing

i bought a toddler bed bc you can just put the crib matress right in it.. depending on how long you think she will fit in it.. maybe your best bet would be buying a twin and a gaurd rail for saftey.. have fun!!

get the bed that grows as she does. It started as a baby bed, then goes to toddler then on up to twin

toddler bed is cheaper …….you can use your crib mattress on it. When you start potty training she will have accidents in her bed. It will be easier to clean up if she is in a toddler bed. I would save the twin bed for when she is fully potty trained so that the mattress won't get ruined.

THe only real reason to get a toddler bed is it takes up less space and some kids like the cozier feel. Personally, I think it's kind of a waste of money. Just make sure the twin isn't too high off the floor that she could get hurt if she fell out of bed. and don't be afraid to use a bed rail ( make sure its on properly though or it could pose a suffocation risk!!)

After my children climbed out of the crib I used a toddler bed it really didn't cost that much I think it was $30.00 becasue you use the crib mattress, I felt the twin size bed was to high and big.

really I wouldlet your daughter pick-out her bed. We actually made the mistake of just buying a toddler bed (of course cause they are too cute) and my son wouldn't go near it. Screamed evey night and would end-up being on the floor inthe morning. Finally we figured out he just didn't liekthe bed, so we took him to the store and told him to pick out "his" bed. he did and now he sleeps much better at night.
I've found when you give your child choices they are more likely to listen and even sleep better.
If you do get a reg. twin though I highly suggest getting a mesh railing for the side or both sides–this has saved my son from 'falling' many many times, and helped re-assure me as well. Hope that helps.

Seeing how she is tall her her age, your best bet would be to go with a twin, with a low frame, and if you want to be super cautious get a safety rail for the side. We bought my son a toddler bed at two he is now 4 1/2 and is just now needing a twin bed. We also did the same for our daughter but she will probably be in alot longer then he is because she is tiny for her age.

A twin bed. Then you wont have to turn around in a year or 2 and buy one anyway.

Get a twin bed and a side rail for it. Or even just place the mattress on the floor to get her used to sleeping on it.

Avoid the toddler bed and get the twin, as you may have to lay with her (e.g. when sick) and adults fit better in a twin.

Get a twin bed and save money. Use just a mattress and it will not be so big. Buy one of the safety things to put on the side so that she does not fall off. This is what I did and boy am I glad that I saved that money.

You should get a twin bed. I got my daughter a toddler bed and she got so used to it it was so hard for us to get her to her twin bed. She was 5 and still sleeping in her toddler bed. She hardly fit in there. u can get her a bed rail so she doesnt fall. And besides u wont have to spend in another crib mattress since u are going to need 2 if u buy a toddler bed and the one for the crib for your other baby

Both my girls went straight from the crib to a twin sized bed. Beautyrest makes nice ones for children that have waterproof and dustmite proof ticking.
