What is the best way to travel from Melbourne to Sydney by land.?

I am travelling with hubby and a toddler + preschooler. We are going during winter (July) Is there any rail / bus service which is comfortable and how long does the journey takes?

By Train (XPT Countrylink) This will cost you $250 oneway for the 4 of you. With a Journey time of 11hours.

By Bus (Greyhound) This will cost you $291 oneay for the 4 of you. With a Journey time of 12.5 Hours

Rail would be more comfortable with the ability to stand up and walk around the train. And more room for your children to play.
