Travel with kids: What should I pack vs. what should I buy locally when taking toddler to France?
We're heading to Provence for 2 weeks in September and I dread packing diapers, for example. We usually like to live like locals when we go, packing light and buying most of what we need when we get there but this is the first trip with our 2 year old in tow.
Anyone know what the disposeable diapers are like in France? What toddler-care stuff must I ABSOLUTELY pack, and what can I deffinitely just pick up when we get there?
Pack enough diapers for a few days, sadly; however, as with most European countries, the diapers in France are quite like the ones in America. There are the generic brands, the brands within the country, but they also sell Pampers. You should find a larger store; sometimes local marketplaces and stores will not fit your needs. Buy water purifiying tablets that you would add into your water if you were camping out just in case; make sure you ask the child's pediatrician for any shots or immunizations she/he would reccommend for a trip to France, and then follow through with them. Food is excellent in France and you will not be disappointed, and your toddler will have a wide variety of baby food in a french convenience store as well as "Adult" food as well.

Take your child's favorite huggy toy with him and be careful not to lose it on the trip. Take his favorite outfit for him to wear.
They have toddlers in France, too, I would imagine you could get everything you need there. You might want to check cost of buying here versus ther, what with exchange rates and VAT taxes.
And I'd just be sure I had enough stuff with me for about three to five days, in case something goes wrong with the flight schedule.
And then I wouldn't worry about it.
