What do you do with the travel system for an infant when flying?
So… my 6month old and i are flying cross country. I know we need the car seat base when we get to cali, and i'd really like to have the stroller in the airport. i know they can put the carseat under the plane once we get to the gate… but do i have to pack the car seat base in my luggage?!
I have NO idea what i'm doing on this one. I know what to take for the baby, just dont know what to do about the car seat/base/stroller.
Actually, you probably don't even need your car seat base! I did the same thing when I first traveled and even went as far as to ship the base to my destination. then found out later I never needed my base! But most likely, your car seat can be placed in your car using a seat belt. There should be instructions for how to do this, either on your car seat or look online. I know Graco, Peg Perego and Maxi Cosi car seats can be used without their bases.
If your carseats fits into your stroller, you can bring them both thru security but they may have to do a special check on the equipment so leave yourself some time. if they are separate, there may be an issue, but I'd call the airport you are going to for more information on how to get through security.

If you have the combo that fits one into the other, car seat into stoller, stack them together, put the baby in it and go clear to your gate that way. Check it all in there. They'll give you a tag. You'll board first since you are traveling with an infant. When you exit your car seat and stoller will be waiting for you. You can do this even if the two don't fit together, but it will be easier if they do. Good luck. I traveled with my 6 month old for the first time last month.

Hi there, well depending on the size of the base I guess you could pack in your luggage but otherwise you should be able to get it wrapped and packed as a large item to be stowed under the plane as well just like the stroller and car seat itself. I flew back in August with my then 10 month old baby and took her bulky pram only because we were attending a wedding and I knew she would want to sleep so I opted for the large pram instead of the stroller. I was also going to take her porta-cot but changed my mind as I was the only one going down and hubby was home baby sitting my other 2 girls. At your destination, is it possible to perhaps hire a car seat at the other end if you are hiring a car. I did that and just paid the extra $8/ day for the car seat to be already in car. Was so much easier and my mum arranged a porta-cot for me too so I didn't have to take anything except the large pram. Otherwise sweetie, I think if all else fails, just contact the airline and I'm sure they will have a person you can speak to instead of a machine and ask them, I'm sure they would be only too happy to help you out. All the very best on your trip and I'm sure bub will enjoy their first plane ride
HOpe you are able to relax and enjoy the flight too
xx Merry Christmas
