Does an infant need a passport to travel within the US?

I just gave birth a little over a couple of months ago, and we are planning to go to California for Thanksgiving. I know she will need a passport to travel outside the country, but within the US, I am not sure. I have searched the internet and only saw questions (and answers) applicable to adults, not infants. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the baby needs a passport by then. If not, do I need to bring her documents (i.e. birth cert, etc) at the airport?

Birth certificate should be sufficient for travel within the USA.

    A passport is for travelling outside of the country. So no.

    NO! No one needs a passport to travel within the U.S. Passports are for traveling outside the U.S. In fact, children under 18 are not required to have I.D. at all to travel within the U.S. See site below and read the first sentence.
