Should I get a toddler bed or just a regular twin size for my 2 year old?

I am not certain the purpose of the toddler bed. How long can it be used? Is a twin bed too big? Are there people out there that just went from crib to twin? THANKS!

Depending on which toddler bed you’re considering, and how tall your child is, it can be a waste of money. Though you can reuse the crib mattress for the toddler bed, you’ll have to buy a new mattress set when the child outgrows the toddler, usually around 50 lbs. Our crib converted to a toddler bed, but after we went through the whole "lets jump on my bed when mom’s not looking and pretend I’m a flying superhero" phase the pieces that the mattress sits on are bent all to heck and I have to trash the whole crib instead of reusing it, and my friend had the same thing happen w/ her children’s toddler beds.
We’re going right from the transitioned bed to a twin, as soon as we can get mattresses and a non plastic waterproof cover for under the sheets(it’s almost night time potty training time, lol)
For investment purposes, unless you plan on having more children close together, I’d go w/ the twin and bed rails, because aside from normal mattress maintenence(I don’t wanna promise they’ll last that long) a good twin can last until your child moves out of your home in 16-20 years. Scary thought, isn’t it?

Do toddlers sleep better in a big bed than they do in a toddler bed?

My also 3 year old has been in his toddler bed for over a year but he wakes up every night. If he sleeps away from home and in a big bed he sleeps with no problem a few times he has slept in our bed and we fell asleep on the couch and he slept all night? Is the problem the toddler bed or just a toddler that doesnt want to stay in his own bed?

I have a 4 year old son who was exactly like this, and it does sound like he needs a larger sleeping space. My son started having problems sleeping in his toddler bed that was converted from the crib when he was about 18 months old. So we just went ahead and bought him a queen size bed and he loved it. Of course he looked tiny in this big old bed, but it’s the last bed we’ll have to buy for him so that’s a good savings for us and he adores his big boy bed. Plus when he leaves the nest, we have a queen size for company, and we can just a different headboard if needed.

Is 2 years old too young for a child to start sleeping in a Toddler bed?

My son is now 2 1/2 years old and has a hard time staying in his bed. He repeatedly gets out of his bed thru the night, and trys to sleep with us. He’s been in a toddler bed since he was 2 since he learned how to climb out of his crib.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to sleep in his bed?

2 years is fine. my daughter started sleeping in her toddler bed when she was 2 and 3 1/2 months. it was fine for the first few weeks but after that she would get out and sleep with her dad and i.

My (soon to be ex) husband and i tried for 3 months to get her to sleep in her own bed. But we gave up and let her sleep with us up until she was 3 1/2 to 4. we had VERY long nights.

Anyways, you could try reading to him until he falls asleep.

Can anyone please suggest a bed rail for converting baby bed to toddler bed?

My daughters baby bed has a back to it so I just need one side bed rail.A bed rail that doesnt need a second maatteress and super easy to install..I am a frustated Mommy !!

I am in the same boat. All the ones I have found have to be for twin beds. The lady at Toys R us told me to go to the website from my crib and maybe they sell some.

Does the Do Your Room convertible crib turn into a day bed or just a toddler bed?

I bought the Do Your Room convertible crib from Target in the Spring of 2008. The manual that comes with it is not helpful at all and Target no longer carries the crib. Does anyone know if the crib turns into a day bed, or just into a toddler and full size bed? Also, do you need to buy a new mattress and bed frame for the toddler bed?

i think with most of those if you take the adjustable up and down side off of it is considered a day bed. that’s how my 3 year old sleeps in his.

My son is turning a year this month and i was planning on getting him a toddler bed but i cant think of a good bedding theme or just plain nice one i was thinking of land before time or rugrats but i cant find those any where please help give me some ideas!!!

for my son, i have used thomas the train, cars, elmo.. stuff like that. you need to get more than one set of bedding as they will get wet from full diapers or bottles..

My son is 20 months old. He has a toddler bed, but refuses to sleep in it! We have already tried several things and nothing seems to be working as yet. Does anyone have any tips that worked well for their children? His father and I would really like to break him of wanting to sleep in our bed! LOL We have a queen size bed and our son LOVES to sleep sideways, so it leave very little room for the 2 of us! Thanks in advance for the advice!

Put your son in his bed at night and explain that he needs to sleep in his bed tonight and shut the light off and sit on the floor of his room in the dark. When he gets up, quietly without saying a word get up and place him back into his bed and sit back down. Every time he gets up continue putting him back into his bed without saying anything to him.You can quietly get up and leave when he is tired of getting no where and falls asleep. We used this technique on our son and it worked great, the first night I think I sat in his room for 45 mins and the time got shorter and shorter every night, and after 5 days he was sleeping in his bed fine, and we haven’t had a problem since (he has been in a big boy bed for a year now).

Sorry from the toddler size bed to a twin or single size bed is what I’m talking about.

I think it really depends on your toddlers size and comfort. As long as they still have room in the toddler bed and aren’t over the manufacturers suggested weight limit, I don’t see a reason to switch them. If you’re concerned about falls, bedrails can be purchased to fit any size bed. Otherwise it’s up to you and what you prefer.

I have a three year old and we are thinking about getting her a twin bed. My question is this : Is she to young for a twin bed and if so what is a good toddler bed and what kind of bedding would you get for a 3 year old; She has one of those little couches that folds out, that is what she is sleeping on now, so we figured that it was time to get her a bed. Any suggestions would be most welcome. it has been 15 years since I’ve had a toddler so I am kinda rusty at all of this.(lol)
as for the bedding like should i let her pick it out .

My son is 3 and still sleeps in his toddler bed. We bought ours at walmart it was pretty cheap like $50 nothing to expensive cause hes gonna get another one soon and for the bedding they had a whole spiderman set he wanted for $35. Check them out they have really cute bedding for girls and you should let her pick it out cause then you know she will like it.

I bought my son a toddler bed and an older child ( much heavier) jumped on it and broke one of the main support beams. I have the sheet with all the part numbers, I just can’t seem to find anywhere on-line where i can get a replacement. I bought the bed from Toy’s R Us.Newton Toddler Bed
Any suggestions and ideas will be greatly appreciated.
