How to keep a toddler in her toddler bed?
I am switching my daughter from her crib to her toddler bed and she cries and runs to the door. How do I get her to feel as comfortable in her new big girl bed as she was in her crib?
Time.
For us, the biggest issue wasn’t so much the bed, but DS thinking it was ok for him to get up and leave the room anytime he wanted. We had to put a baby gate at his bedroom door for a week to get the point accross that once he went to bed, he wasn’t allowed to get up and leave if he felt like it.

Instead of closing the door in her room try a baby gate. Keep as much routine as possible such as snack, bath, book and bed. Give her some of her favorite things to sleep with such as a book or stuffed animal. Dont give up if she keeps coming out dont say anything just place her back in bed. Best of luck they say 7 days of stress then all should be good!

Did you let your daughter pick out her bedding for her new big girl bed?
My son loves Cars so he got Cars bedding. He loves his bed and won’t even come to sleep in ours!
You could also try the gate idea as others have mentioned.

Have a rewarding transitional object she can only have in her bed, like a blanket or a stuffed toy.If she loves a certain theme, like princesses, make that the theme of her bedding. reward her for staying in bed. Read her a story or sing her a song in her bed, and have a routine. Make sure she has a night light. Also, it will take time. The more you come running when she goes to her door and cries for you, the more she will do it.
