Does your toddler go to his bed all by himself?

NEAT. I told my toddler to go take a nap and he went to his bed and took one for 3 hours! We just put his toddler bed in his room last night. He's 19-months-old just to give you an idea of the age.

You've done well! Never treat naps or bedtime as a punishment (use a chair/couch for timeout). And keep the routine. Naps at my house are EVERY DAY about 20 minutes after lunch. Bedtime is 8:30 after dinner, cleanup, books and family prayers. Sleep times are predictable, therefore refreshing for a child and fantastic for me!

If there's a tantrum, I'll say "goodness you seem tired" and I will HUG THEM! Let them calm down then take them to bed. They know they're loved, understand they're overwhelmed from exhaustion, and relax easily.

Also, I like to keep them in their own beds so I can have my peace. Kids only sleep with parents out of habit, and it's a tough one to break! Sometimes I'll lay in THEIR bed for comfort, then leave just before they're asleep.

Yes I have an 18 month old and all we say is, it's sleepy time and he grabs his special blanket and his paci and goes to his room..he is still in a crib so I have to put him in it but he has always been good about sleeping in his own bed and his own room. If we say it's sleepy time though and he isn't ready he will still go to his room but throws a fit the entire way..it's funny to watch.

She still has a crib but right around bedtime, she will demand "nap!"

Isn't that just great… My son does as well. He has been since he was about 16 months. I say go to bed and he says okay and runs. I was like yeah. Amen… :)
