At what age did your child go from toddler bed to full bed?
My daughter is almost 3 and I want to put her in a regular bed soon, but she still has accidents and wears pull-ups.
What age do you think is best to make the change? She’s getting a little big in her toddler bed now and I’d like to cuddle with her sometimes too. ![]()
I completely bypassed the toddler bed with all 3 of my children. I put them in a twin bed between the ages of 18 months and 2 yrs. old. I’ve always had a plastic sheet on the bed…and a side rail.

My child was around 4 but I found a low to the floor bed so that if she fell off it didn’t hurt!

i would wait till she is totally potty trained at night to avoid a mess on the matress…even the protection pads are more trouble then crib matresses…u can tempt her to finish up potty training with he promise of a big girl bed maybe??

They make really amazing bed pads for twin size beds. They make really amazing mattress covers for twin size beds. The bedding industry is aware it takes some kids years to be totally dry at night and know moms don’t want to throw out the mattress every month.
Go to a big bedding store like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and ask what they carry to protect a big girl bed. Maybe you could get her a big girl bed for her birthday

We just put my son in a twin bed. He is 22 months, and we thought a toddler bed was just a waste of money. He would only get maybe a year out of it, so we decided to buy a twin. Last night was his first night sleeping in it.
If she is still having accidents, buy a waterproof mattress cover/protector to go under the sheets. Also, you may want to just put the box spring and mattress on the floor for a little while, just to make sure she doesn’t continue to roll off the bed. If she does fine, then you can put it on the frame. That’s what we are doing right now.

We skipped the toddler bed altogether and put my son in a twin bed when he was about 2 1/2. He is 3 1/2 now and still wears pull-ups to bed b/c it is a pain to change the sheets and mattress cover when he has an accident. The best covers I have found are the type they sell at the mattress store, like this http://www.mattress.com/Catalog/Category/53/Mattress-Pads.aspx

at almost 3 she was getting to big for her toddler bed imo so we moved her to a single bed and she loved it and slept a lot better

My son is 5 now but he’s had a twin size bed since he was 2. He was potty trained fully at 3 1/2 but we kept the plastic bed spread thingiie under his sheet until this past year. If you want to go ahead and get it then get it.

My daughter never had a toddler bed. She just went from crib to twin bed at age 2.
As long as you have a bed rail or put the mattress on the floor there is functionally no difference between a toddler bed and a regular bed.

My daughter (2 1/2) was never in a "toddler" bed, she sleeps on a twin mattress that sits on a platform with drawers in it that her grandfather made for her.
